Nice overview, but you need to correct some of your facts.

The I-radar is fully functional as a stand-alone unit and will warn you via built in speaker and led, it is only the gps functions that are inop when your phone isn't on or visible.

While the iphone does increase its functionality, iradar can be used with the ipod touch and earlier gen's as well. GPS accuracy is just reduced.

While I agree that it is yet another smart-phone gimmick, Cobra has based it on their high-end sensors and it's range has been shown to be greater than the passport 8500i, which is pretty impressive.

Like any company diving into new trends or tech, Cobra has and will continue to have glitches in one form or another. It seems that there are some bugs in the software that are currently being worked out, but the company seems to be very customer oriented and willing to try new things, so this might bring them back into the spotlight in the world of sensors.

I read your article just before buying one, and two of your cons are proven incorrect by the first piece of paper that came out of the package with it. The "Quick Start" guide address
use without the iphone or ipod.

Please don't become like the other mass media goons out there turning assumption into fact. If you're going to do a writeup on something like this, use it and directly/simultaneously compare it before you write about it.

Thanks.
